ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - More than 9,000 people have found employment

programmes of employment stimulation, Labour and Welfare Minister
Davorko Vidovic said on Tuesday. #L#
Of a planned figure of 14,029 newly-employed, 9,216 people have
found employment so far, including 6,112 under the age of 30 with no
previous work experience.
The newly-employed include 1,333 war veterans, 738 women above the
age of 45 and men above 50, 228 young people with crafts
qualifications with no previous work experience, and 36 disabled
people.
The Croatian Employment Bureau has so far given employers 22.9
million kuna (EUR 3.09 million) of this year's employment
incentives worth 178 million kuna (EUR 24.05 million).
All funds which are not allocated will be used for the education and
re-training of unemployed people in the construction, shipbuilding
and tourism industries, Vidovic said.
The programme "From University To Work", intended for young people
with university degrees, has fallen short of expectations, having
resulted in the employment of only 769 of the planned 7,050.
This is partly so because more interest was expected from employers
and partly because the planned figure includes those who will have
graduated by the end of the year, Vidovic said.
The profiles most in demand include construction workers and
assistants, shop assistants and waiters, secretarial graduates,
lawyers and economists.
