SPLIT, Oct 1 (Hina) - The National Headquarters for the Protection
of Homeland War Values is embittered by Tuesday's testimony of
Croatian President Stjepan Mesic in the trial of former Yugoslav
President Slobodan Milosevic at the Hague-based war crimes
tribunal because "he directly accused the Croatian state
leadership and Franjo Tudjman of having waged a war for the division
of Bosnia-Herzegovina in collusion with Milosevic". #L#
In his testimony before the Hague tribunal, Mesic said that his
predecessor Franjo Tudjman had believed in an integral Bosnia until
his meeting with Milosevic in Karadjordjevo in March 1991.
"Milosevic obviously convinced him that it was possible to divide
Bosnia," President Mesic said. "The two of them had an agreement.
What they discussed at the meeting I cannot say with certainty, but
I am certain about what Tudjman told us then," Mesic said. He added
that Tudjman said that Milosevic had offered him the borders of
Banovina, agreed on in the first Yugoslav state (1918-1941), which
included a large portion of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
In a statement signed by its president Mirko Condic, the
Headquarters states among other things that Mesic had violated "the
Constitution and the parliament's Declaration on the Homeland
War", which was why the parliament should initiate urgent procedure
for his impeachment.
