HRVATSKA KOSTAJNICA, July 24 (Hina) - Delegations of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday evening defined a draft annex to the agreement on the joint border crossing between the towns Hrvatska Kostajnica and Bosanska Kostajnica.
#L# After the meeting in Hrvatska Kostajnica it was announced that the crossing would be set up at an area between the Una and Uncica rivers some ten metres from the bridge across the Uncica at the entrance to Bosanska Kostajnica. The crossing will thus be built in front of the (Croatian) old town of the Zrinski royal family and some business premises and Croatia will re-establish its territorial and constitutional sovereignty over this area. Bosnia's Council of Ministers will consider the draft annex at its session on Thursday. If Sarajevo accepts it, in two weeks' time it will be possible for the two neighbours to start setting up the inter-state border crossing. The Croatian delegation's head and an assistant to Foreign Minister, Josip Paro, said it was beyond any doubt that Croatia had the right to regain the full control over the territory between the Una and the Uncica. For the purpose of developing good neighbourly relations, Croatia, however, wants to settle the issue of the border crossing through agreement and by building the joint crossing, Paro said. The Bosnian deputy minister of civilian affairs and communications, Milan Lovric, said it was incontestable for Sarajevo that the frontier between the two countries in this area lay on the Uncica river. Lovric said the issue of the building of a by-pass around Bosanska Kostajnica and via the area between the two rivers would be settled at future negotiations. Prior to the meeting, a delegation of the Bosnian ministerial council, led by the council's chairman Dragan Mikerevic, visited Bosanska Kostajnica and held talks with local authorities on the construction of the border crossing. The delegation asked the local authorities to restrain themselves from any reaction until the final agreement between Sarajevo and Zagreb on the matter. After that, Mikerevic met the Croatian representatives in Hrvatska Kostajnica. (hina) ms
