ZAGREB, July 11 (Hina) - The role of the Croatian Radio Television

told the Croatian parliament on Thursday evening. #L#
Responding to many objections of MPs who claimed that after the
adoption of a new law on the national radio and television, this
council became more inefficient than before and that some members
acted politically, Silobrcic said the council was constituted of
representatives delegated from civil society and this was a step
forward.
The de-politicisation is our ultimate goal, however nobody can give
assurances that members of the council are a-political, Silobrcic
said.
Being criticised by the parliamentarians for a delay in the
separation of the Radio from Television, the HRT Director Mirko
Galic said the deadlines were too short, despite the warning he and
the adminsitrative board had given about impossibilities to do the
job within the given time terms.
MPs insisted that a HRT reporter, Jozo Kapovic, be returned to the
job of a commentator of the live coverage of the Sabor's sessions.
Social Democrats (SDP) denied allegations that Kapovic was
suspended at the request of a SDP member, Milanka Opacic.
HRT director Galic said Kapovic was not suspended, given that such a
measure could only be ordered by the Television's head, and Galic
added that no request of such kind had been sent to him.
