In a phone interview for Hina, Tomac repeated his attitude that all
parties in Croatia - including the SDP - should introduce realistic
and not only formal opportunities for the establishment of factions
within which space could be provided for various opinions which do
not vitally clash with general party directions.
Tomac stressed that this did now however imply that he was going to
initiate a faction within the SDP and there were not concrete
actions in this direction within his party.
Commenting on media allegations about new dissatisfaction within
the SDP, apparently led by SDP ministers who believe they may be
ousted out of the Government, Tomac said it would not be a good thing
to set up a faction in response to personal dissatisfaction,
emphasising that the basis for factions can only be a difference in
attitude over vital issues.
