ZAGREB, June 26 (Hina) - The Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) leader
Anto Djapic on Wednesday said his party had filed a constitutional
complaint against the Croatian government for having signed an
agreement with Slovenia on the Krsko nuclear power plant. #L#
The agreement, which was signed at the end of 2001 by the two
governments' officials, should be ratified by the two countries'
parliaments by July 1.
According to Djapic, the HSP believes the document is not in
compliance with the Croatian Constitution, as it is incompatible
with Croatia's law on ionised radiation which prohibits the storage
of radioactive waste produced outside Croatia.
The HSP expect the Sabor will wait for the Constitutional Court's
ruling before it ratifies the contentious agreement. Such a move of
the Croatian parliament is expected given that the Slovenian
parliament has postponed ratification because of a similar
procedure, Djapic said.
