ZAGREB, June 25 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's president,
Zlatko Tomcic, on Monday wished the best to Croatian citizens on the
occasion of a national holiday - Statehood Day.
Tomcic reminded that Statehood Day is celebrated on 25 June
commemorating 25 June 1991 when Croatia's parliament adopted a
constitutional decision on the sovereignty and independence of the
Republic of Croatia.
By the ratification of a Stabilisation and Association Agreement
(SAA) in the parliament, Croatia has drawn closer to the
accomplishment of its strategic objective in the foreign policy
segment: the full membership in the European Union. Our country
shows the same determination in activities aimed at its accession
in NATO, and this has been proved by the recent admission of Croatia
into the Membership Action Plan, Tomcic said in his message.
Regarding interior policy segment, there are still many great
obligations for Croatia in reforms it should carry out in all the
fields in order to achieve its permanent goal: the adequate and
desirable standard for all citizens, he added.
He wished Croatia might overcome very soon all difficulties in its
development to the benefit and satisfaction of all people.
