Because of newly arisen circumstances we cannot speak confidently
about a meeting of the Slovenian-Croatian combined commission that
was to take place in Ljubljana on June 27, so that the new company,
"Nuklearka Krsko NEK, d.o.o." could take over the company, the head
of Slovenia's section of the combined commission, Branko Ogorevc
said for Slovenia's STA News Agency.
Slovenia's environmental protection minister on Wednesday told STA
that the move by Krsko Municipality to examine the validity of the
agreement was not very wise and in fact, damaging.
If the parliamentary procedure is delayed this will just mean a
delay in any decision making which is the worst possible solution,
the ministry said.
The ministry assessed it would have been wiser for the MPs to have
discussed the matter in the parliament and to have proposed a new
platform for negotiations with Croatia. Slovenia has already
purchased the required power capacities to supplement the
deficiency in electricity after half the power is to be released to
Croatia - as of July 1. If the agreement is not ratified, the losses
will have to be covered by Slovenia, the ministry reminded.
STA said that the Slovene government and environmental protection
ministry were not officially notified of the submission to the
Constitutional Court. If this is the case then the agreement will be
delayed even if it were to be put on the agenda for the next session
of parliament.
