ZAGREB, June 25 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's president,
Zlatko Tomcic, on Tuesday said he believed that Sabor "will be
mature enough to ratify an agreement on the Krsko power plant". #L#
The agreement, which was signed by Slovenian and Croatian
government officials in the end of 2001, should be ratified by the
two countries' parliaments by 1 July.
Asked whether the Croatian parliament would be able to ratify the
deal so that Croatia could again receive the power from the plant as
of 1 July, Tomcic answered that "it would be politically mature to
do so, regardless of the fact that the document contains a series of
problematic definitions."
"I think it is at this moment in Croatia's interest to start taking
the electricity and annul the Slovenian government's unilateral
decree on its ownership over the nuclear plant. After that we can
independently, as its co-owner, make decisions on the plant's
destiny regarding the part which belongs to us," he said.
