DUBROVNIK, June 1 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Party of
Rights (HSP), Anto Djapic, said in Dubrovnik on Saturday his party
would break up the coalition with the Croatian Democratic Union on
the local level. #L#
"The coalition is possible only on condition that within 30 days
some HDZ branches distance themselves... from coalitions with
parties which have nothing to do with Croatian national interests,
that is, with the Independent Democratic Serbian Party (SDSS),"
Djapic said after the session of a high party body.
The party also requests that elections be repeated in places where
"the HDZ has dissolved coalitions with the HSP, like Karlovac
County and Vukovar".
If this request is not met, the HSP will not enter coalitions with
the HDZ on the local or state level any more, Djapic said.
The HSP will participate in the next election on its own. After the
elections, the party will be open for dialogue with all Croatian
parties, except for the HDZ, should it fail to repeat elections in
places where it dissolved the coalition with the HSP.
Commenting on the adoption of a constitutional law on minorities,
Djapic said his party opposed the idea of minorities being able to
vote twice, because "all citizens in Croatia are equal, and
minority representatives should be elected exclusively from party
lists".
The HSP believes that parties whose names include the names of
foreign countries should not be registered in Croatia.
The HSP also requests that the mandate of the UN mission on
Prevlaka, which expires on June 30, no longer be extended.
