ZAGREB, May 7 (Hina)- A session of the parliament Justice
Committee, which will be closed to the public, started on Tuesday.
The session will give former Chief State Prosecutor Radovan
Ortynski an opportunity to prove his claims of connections between
the government and organised crime.#L#
Members of the committee will use the evidence presented by
Ortynski to decide whether there are just causes to recommend to the
parliament to set up an enquiry commission to determine whether or
not there are connections between the government and organised
crime. As a result of claims by Ortynski at the last parliament
sitting which discussed a report on the work of the State
Prosecutor's Office, parliament president Zlatko Tomcic suggested
that the Committee evaluate whether there was a need to establish an
enquiry commission into the matter.
Also present at the session is Ortynski who should, according to
committee chairman Luka Trconic, support his claims with evidence
of the involvement of the government with organised crime.
