Krsko Mayor Franci Bogovic said on Slovene Radio that 39 of 90 MPs in
the Slovene parliament supported this attitude and that in the days
to come municipal officials would intensify their lobbying with MPs
with regard to ratifying the agreement.
Bogovic proposed that the Slovene government come to an agreement
with Croatia to purchase Croatia's 50-percent share in the Krsko
nuclear plant. That way Slovenia could take control of caring for
the environment, nuclear waste, and financing the power plant,
which then could supply power to Croatia on a commercial basis, the
mayor says.
