Agreement (SAA) with the European Union must be passed by the end of
June.#L#
The government adopted a report on the implementation of the SAA in
the past three months.
Of 68 measures, which should have been implemented, the government
is late with the passing of 15 of them while eight have been passed
before the deadline. Minister Mimica warned that the government was
also late with the passing of system laws, such as a law on the
rights of minorities, asylum, state support, land registry, etc.
This year and June are crucial for the assessment of Croatia's
credibility on the path to European associations, Mimica said.
The government also adopted a conclusion, under which state
administration bodies are obliged to monitor the implementation of
measures from their jurisdiction on monthly basis. The ministers
are obliged to control the work in their ministries every week.
With a debate, the government adopted a report on the work of the
children's council and the commission for the prevention of
disorders in children and youth behaviour for 2001.
The report includes data on an increase in drug abuse.
The government also passed a bill on establishing a university in
the southern Croatian town of Zadar.
First university in Zadar was founded in 1396.
