"They gave us the opportunity to integrate for ourselves so Bosnia
could become integrated into Europe," Lagumdzija said.
He recalled that his country needed a full five years to fulfil a
minimum of conditions to be accepted into the Council of Europe.
Describing the Council of Minister's decision as an important
confirmation of Bosnia's statehood, Lagumdzija said that this also
put an end to speculation about its fate and survival.
"It is up to us to strengthen state institutions in line with
European standards," he said.
Council of Europe's ministers were given guarantees that elections
in Bosnia would be held in October, and it was planned that the
government would carry them out by themselves.
