A total of 114 of 127 MPs present at today's session voted for Seks,
while 13 MPs from the ranks of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) and
the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS) voted against him.
The strengthening of democracy is our unavoidable link with the world,
Seks told his colleagues stressing that democracy was at the same time
Croatia's dialogue with the world.
The elections confirmed citizens' support for the implementation of
reforms that will ensure economic growth and the rule of law, Seks
said. He announced the adoption of numerous laws aimed at achieving
those objectives, including a new labour bill and bills on taxes and
financial supervision.
Parliament is entering a period when it will have to take crucial
decisions regarding Croatia's relations with the world, particularly
in view of its opening fully towards the EU, Seks said, adding that
Croatia must show it is ready to realise that national interest.
