ZAGREB, Dec 19 (Hina) - The likeliest new parliament president, Vladimir Seks of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), said after a meeting of representatives of parliamentary benches and national minorities on Friday that "a lion's

I believe that in spite of different views, parliamentary parties will
form the four committees at the inaugural session and adopt amendments
to three necessary laws, and that the next day parliament will hold a
vote of confidence in Ivo Sanader's government, Seks said.
He said that consultations on the composition of the committees would
continue this evening and tomorrow and that the full composition would
be known on Monday.
The head of the SDP parliamentary club of deputies, Mato Arlovic, said
that the Opposition needed to reach a political agreement on
candidates for three posts of vice-president, stressing that 50
percent of the Opposition seats in committees should be assigned to
the Social Democratic Party.
He said the SDP club of deputies would nominate its members for the
committees on Sunday evening.
Seks said that drafting amendments to the laws on the government,
state administration and the scope of work of ministries and
administrative organisations was in a final stage.
