ZAGREB HOSTING INT'L CONFERENCE OF SE EUROPE WAR VETERANS

ZAGREB, Dec 13 (Hina) - Croatia's Association of Homeland War Volunteers and Veterans is hosting the third international conference of war veterans associations of Southeast Europe in Zagreb. #L# Four resolutions have been adopted. They will be forwarded to the World Veterans Federation and the Committee on European Affairs. Participants have concluded it is necessary to draw up a basic European law on war veterans' rights so that people who took part in conflicts can exercise at least the minimum social and medical rights. The adopted resolutions suggest that countries of Southeast Europe renovate war monuments, finance veterans organisations, and protect the rights of women who took part in wars. Veterans from Serbia-Montenegro, although invited, are not attending the conference which has pooled representatives from nine Southeast European countries. The official part of the conference ended on Sunday, while delegations will start bilateral meetings tomorrow. (hina) ha
