ZAGREB, Dec 12 (Hina) - Croatian Christian Democratic Union (HKDU) president Anto Kovacevic said on Friday he would resign from his post in the party but not retire from politics. #L# The HKDU wants younger people among its leaders, with a new vision, Kovacevic told reporters, stressing the HKDU was very glad that the Croatian Democratic Union had won recent parliamentary elections and that there had been a change of government. Kovacevic said the HKDU expected the new authorities to make the right moves and radical changes -- return money owed to pensioners, return money stolen from Croatia, and review the relationship with the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and the Hague war crimes tribunal. HKDU honorary president Marko Veselica said the party wanted the "democratic Christian option to gain a better position on the Croatian political scene, to oppose the colonisation of Croatia and reject the Western Balkans as an option, to advocate a better economic and social strategy, a better demographic policy, while (the party) is against abortion and same-sex marriages". The HKDU is no longer a parliamentary party after failing to cross the five-percent threshold at last month's polls. (hina) ha sb
