ROME, Nov 2 (Hina) - Croatia's declaration of a fishing and
ecological zone in the Adriatic will be put on the agenda of the
Italian parliament's foreign affairs and agriculture committees,
which will convene on Tuesday. #L#
Members of the two committees, that will hold a joint session on
Tuesday (Nov. 4), are expected to consider a draft resolution in
which the Italian government is asked to take a position on the
Croatian decision.
The resolution has been drawn up by a MP from the Democratic Left,
Famiano Crucianelli, a member of the foreign affairs committee, and
the document was signed by MPs from other parties, too.
According to the draft resolution Croatia's initiative can
negatively impact Zagreb's relations with Slovenia and Italy.
The resolution urges the Italian government "to launch an
initiative, in which the European Union and Adriatic countries will
be engaged, on defining processes and instruments of co-operation,
so as to develop efficient partnership in the management of
economic and social activities relevant for the fishing and the
preservation of the balance of the ecological system in the
sea..."
In this way a climate of dialogue would again be set up among
Adriatic countries and "the process of Balkan countries' coming
closer to the European Union" would be encouraged, it read.
