VUKOVAR, Oct 23 (Hina) - The president of the European Movement in
Serbia, Zivorad Kovacevic, has urged forgiveness and
reconciliation in the eastern Croatian city of Vukovar. #L#
Kovacevic took part in Thursday's panel discussion, which was held
in the Franciscan monastery of that formerly war-stricken Croatian
city.
"Without normalisation of the relations, there is no cooperation
between Serbia-Montenegro and Croatia, and the process of freeing
oneself of hatred begins with the readiness to face the truth,"
Kovacevic said, calling on Vukovar to find its own strength to
forgive.
The monastery's guardian, Friar Zlatko Spehar, said the "national
anguish cannot be cured by a nation, but by members who belong to the
nation".
The panel discussion was organised by the European House Vukovar
and the Friedrich Eber foundation.
