"What way the EU will pressure Croatia demanding full cooperation,
is not my problem," Del Ponte told the Croatian daily, adding the
same applied to Serbia and Montenegro and Republika Srpska.
Speaking about Croatia, the chief prosecutor said the country made
positive results as well, such as forwarding documents and enabling
the tribunal to contact witnesses and suspects.
She said the main problem was the case of retired Croatian Army
General Ante Gotovina.
"What particularly frustrates and what we are not satisfied with is
Gotovina's arrest and everything that has been going on in
connection with that," Del Ponte said, stressing that the support
of the U.S. to the tribunal was of extreme importance.
"(US Secretary of State) Powell gave me assurances about the
continuation of the US support to the tribunal's work, particularly
regarding the arrest of fugitives, such as Karadzic, Mladic and
Gotovina," the prosecutor said.
She confirmed that new indictments would arrive in Croatia by the
end of 2004, but would not speak in detail.
The ICTY chief prosecutor will travel to Luxembourg on Monday to
attend an EU ministerial meeting.
