"I'm certain that the SDP will receive the votes of people who think
it's worthwhile continuing the journey started by this government,
the people who are rightfully scared of going back," Racan said at a
panel discussion in Karlovac.
Responding to questions about environmental protection, Racan
expressed regret that the parliament did not adopt a zoning bill at
its last session today.
"Interest groups are stronger. There is a great financial interest
in destroying this country, particularly on the coast, in Dalmatia
and on the islands," he said, adding that this danger was growing as
Croatia was becoming an attractive tourist destination.
Racan was accompanied by Interior Minister Sime Lucin, Finance
Minister Mato Crkvenac, and Deputy Prime Minister Slavko Linic.
