"The present parliament will sit on Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday," parliament speaker Zlatko Tomcic told reporters after the
meeting.
"We drew up a list of bills to be passed by this parliament, but
there are still dilemmas over some items," Tomcic said.
After the parliament goes through the agreed agenda, it will make a
decision on its dissolution, which will take effect on the day of
its publication in the official gazette, he said.
On the basis of that decision, the president of the republic will
call elections, Tomcic said.
Tomcic said that President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivica
Racan and he had agreed earlier in the day that parliamentary
elections should be held on November 23 as announced.
Before the meeting of the coalition leaders, this issue had been
discussed at a special meeting involving Tomcic, Racan, and the
chairmen of the clubs of deputies of the Social Democratic Party
(SDP) and the Peasant Party (HSS), Mato Arlovic and Luka Trconic.
