PAKRAC, Sept 16 (Hina) - The leader of the largest opposition party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Ivo Sanader, said on Tuesday his party was preparing for a convincing victory in forthcoming parliamentary elections.

The HDZ "will win convincingly, but not with an absolute majority
which would enable it to form its own government. That's why we are
preparing to form a coalition with centrist and centre-right
parties," he said.
Sanader accused Prime Minister Ivica Racan and Parliament
President Zlatko Tomcic of being the only two persons who knew the
exact date of elections. "This is a crazy situation in which one
does not know when the elections are, but has to prepare for them,"
he added.
Sanader was in Pakrac, about 150 km east of Zagreb, to attend a
session of the HDZ National Council.
