Micic decided to call the presidential ballot after the same
decision was unanimously made by the Serbian ruling DOS coalition
at a session on Tuesday evening.
Serbia failed to elect the new president at two previous attempts in
autumn 2002 due to a poor turnout. In the meantime, Micic is
Serbia's acting president.
