Adriatic before its dissolution. #L#
Racan would not say when exactly this would be and whether the bill
would propose declaration of an economic, environmental or fishing
zone. He noted that this would depend on several elements.
This depends on consultations with the European Union, the meeting
in Brussels, and assessments as to how Croatia can expand its
jurisdiction in the Adriatic in accordance with its national
interests without jeopardising its strategic interest to join the
EU, the prime minister told a press conference.
Racan reiterated Croatia's readiness to discuss the economic zone
with its neighbours, but stressed that it would not agree to
ultimatums and Cold War-style attitudes.
Racan said he believed the situation with Slovenia was back to
normal after the Slovene ambassador had returned to Zagreb.
Asked to comment on the statement by a far-right member of the
Slovene parliament, Zmago Jelincic, that Istria, Zadar and
Dalmatia should be given back to Italy, Racan said that "membership
of a parliament does not necessarily prevent someone from speaking
nonsense".
