death of the UN special envoy to Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello. #L#
"Mr Vieira de Mello was one of the most prominent officials of the
United Nations. He was active on several continents and was always
in the service of peace building, reconstruction and efforts to
resolve humanitarian problems. His untimely death found him on one
such mission.
"We particularly appreciate Mr Vieira de Mello's constructive
activities in our region and his active role and important
contribution to the restoration of the peace in this region," the
telegram said.
