HVAR, Aug 19 (Hina) - Croatian Assistant Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ivica Grbac said during a visit to the island of Hvar on Tuesday that a programme should be drawn up to reforest and regenerate fire-ravaged areas.

After touring parts of the island that have been scorched by recent
blazes, the assistant minister was informed by local government
officials, fire-fighters and forest rangers about the problems
they encountered in putting out the fires.
More than 3,000 hectares of pine forest, olive groves, lavender
fields and vineyards, as well as several cottages burnt in two big
fires on the island this summer.
