The fire, which consumed about 40 hectares of grass and underbrush,
was put out at about 1600 hours with the aid of a firefighting
plane.
A fire broke out near the southern town of Metkovic at about 1800
hours, fire officials said, adding that efforts were under way to
put the blaze under control.
The fire near the town of Prizba on the southern island of Korcula
was contained at about 1730 hours with the assistance of three fire-
fighting planes.
In the afternoon, firefighters managed to bring under control fires
in the counties of Zadar and Sibenik. The fires destroyed a total of
50 hectares of grass and underbrush.
A firefighting plane has joined in the efforts to contain the fire
that was reactivated in Paklenica National Park on Mount Velebit on
Friday, fire officials said.
Fires on the southern island of Hvar are under control.
