ZAGREB, May 29 (Hina) - The Croatian Union Federation (HUS) slammed
the government Thursday for compensating for its lack of expertise
and incompetence in managing state property by making "tragicomic"
decisions on seeking personal guarantees from members of state-run
companies' management boards. #L#
Chairmen and members of management boards in state-run companies
should, according to government criteria for providing guarantees,
sign a statement guaranteeing for business activities with
personal property. Without such a statement, they cannot sign a
contract on granting government guarantees, Finance Minister Mato
Crkvenac said yesterday.
In a press release, the HUS says with such statements Crkvenac
confirms incompetence, both his own and the government's.
"What has prevented the government to control the work of
management and supervisory boards and sanction them on time, as
there are many possibilities for this," the HUS asks.
