SOCIAL PARTNERS FAIL TO REACH AGREEMENT ON LABOUR ACT

ZAGREB, May 27 (Hina) - Social partners in Croatia failed to agree on solutions that would satisfy all three parties after Tuesday's discussion on the final draft amendments to the Labour Act at a meeting of the Economic-Social Council (GSV).
ZAGREB, May 27 (Hina) - Social partners in Croatia failed to agree on solutions that would satisfy all three parties after Tuesday's discussion on the final draft amendments to the Labour Act at a meeting of the Economic-Social Council (GSV). #L# Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic said after the meeting that he expected the amendments to be presented to the government and parliament. GSV chairman Davor Juric stressed that employers and unions had no reason to be satisfied or object to the amendments, because they expected measures that would compensate for the loss of some workers' rights. The head of the Croatian Employers' Association, Zeljko Ivancevic, said that not even the minimum of demands set by employers had been met to enable the flexibility of work and greater competitiveness. Both unions and employers will fight for their interests by lobbying in parliament which should discuss the changes to the act in the first half of June, it was said at a press conference.
