Sever said that Croatia's international obligations, whether
towards the International Monetary Fund or the World bank, must not
be more important than Croatian citizens and that nobody should be
sacrificed for "higher goals".
Croatian workers will never agree to "being a cheap labour force on
the platter of owners of capital", which changes to the Labour Act
impose, he said.
Labour and Welfare Minister Davorko Vidovic, a guest at the
assembly, said that the government, unions and employers should
secure the prosperity of the country through joint work.
Parliament vice-president Zdravko Tomac said that problems facing
Croatia could only be solved through joint efforts, and the state
should always be on the side of the weaker in the dispute between
labour and capital.
