SALZBURG, May 22 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said in Salzburg on Thursday that a joint declaration of Croatia, Bosnia- Herzegovina and Serbia and Montenegro on principles of trilateral return would not be signed at the central European summit in this Austrian town. #L# Mesic told reporters all details of the declaration had not yet been harmonised. He stressed that tenancy rights represented the biggest problem. "Tenancy rights are the remains of the abolished socially-owned property and, as such, cannot be renewed. We are currently discussing ways of securing safe accommodation for returnees, former holders of tenancy rights," Mesic said and stressed there was no misunderstanding in the issue of property restitution and that this had been solved. The Croatian head of state met his Czech counterpart Vaclav Klaus today. This was the first meeting between the two presidents since Klaus got elected. The two officials discussed Croatia's application for EU membership. Klaus said his country supported Croatia's joining the EU. Mesic and Klaus also focused on the two countries' cooperation and the situation in the region. (hina) it sb
