At a news conference today, Tomac and Bandic relayed a message from
Zagreb's SDP to people from the former government -- those in the
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and those who transferred from this
party to the newly established Croatian Bloc party (HB) -- that
there would be no statute of limitations in the case of Komercijalna
Bank Zagreb.
Deputy Zagreb mayor, Bandic, said he was lately encouraged by
actions by the Municipal Prosecution. He believes that there will
be no statute of limitations for crimes.
SDP city councillors do not accept the transfer of political
responsibility.
Tomac and Bandic stressed it was impermissible that those who were
politically responsible for covering up the loss of 114 million
kuna from the city's budget were today seeking their resignations
because the Komercijalna Bank case was allegedly being statute-
barred.
