ZAGREB ZAGREB, April 22 (Hina) - The Zagreb City Electoral Commission (GIP), led by Bozidar Rumenjak, on Tuesday started to work on the implementation of local elections for members to the national minorities councils, namely
representatives of national minorities. The election will be held on May 18.

(GIP), led by Bozidar Rumenjak, on Tuesday started to work on the
implementation of local elections for members to the national
minorities councils, namely representatives of national
minorities. The election will be held on May 18. #L#
Ten councils for ten national minorities -- Albanian, Bosniak,
Montenegrin, Czech, Hungarian, Macedonian, Romany, Slovene, Serb
and Austrian -- will be elected in Zagreb. Each will consist of 25
members. Also elected will be one representative each from six
national minorities which have at least 100 members, but are not
large enough to form a council -- German, Ruthenian, Slovak,
Italian, Ukrainian and Jewish national minorities.
Starting today until April 28 the GIP will be receiving proposals
for candidates to the councils and representatives of national
minorities.
Lists of the names of candidates that have been proposed on time
will be composed in alphabetical order and announced in public
media by April 30 at the latest.
The electoral campaign officially starts on May 1 and will last
until May 16, while media blackout begins a day before the
election.
