"I believe that the election will be held in October," Tomcic said
in a radio programme called "St. Mark's Square".
He pointed out that at a recent meeting of the five parties of the
ruling coalition it was agreed that the date of the election would
be decided on at a later date and that a public announcement would
state that the elections could be mid autumn. Tomcic voiced
dissatisfaction with the fact that the SDP on Saturday announced
the election for October 26 or November 9.
"If we go to election in October then the parliament has to be
dissolved from August 15 to September 20 which required previous
consultation, he said.
Tomcic hopes that the electoral campaign will not deepen disputes
that exist within the ruling coalition or hamper agreements on some
issues even though he admitted that it would be difficult to
forecast if the coalition was up to that task.
