Croatia Peter Galbraith at the request of the defendant. #L#
"The chamber has an absolutely discriminatory relationship towards
me," Milosevic protested. Milosevic, who is defending himself on
his own, asked that the chamber postpone Galbraith's testimony so
that he can prepare his cross-examination.
Milosevic reminded Judge Richard May of his promise to announce
witnesses at least ten days in advance while the announcement of
Galbraith's appearance was announced only seven days previously.
May sustained Milosevic's argument while Prosecutor Nice said the
former US diplomat would then be called up for the end of March when
the Croatian section of the trial should be nearing its
conclusion.
Peter Galbraith, whom the US government recently approved to appear
before the ICTY was the ambassador to Zagreb from 1993 to 1997. He
played a major role during the UN peace mission to Croatia
(UNPROFOR), the process of the re-establishment of Croatia's
sovereignty over its entire territory and during the liberating
Flash and Storm actions in 1995 as well as the peaceful integration
of the Croatian Danubian region.
