approved the earlier release of Damir Dosen who is serving a five
year term in Austria. #L#
This Bosnian Serb was sentenced on November 13, 2001 to five year
imprisonment after pleading guilty for crimes against humanity
committed in the Keraterm concentration camp (near Banja Luka), a
statement by the ICTY said.
Dosen was the head guard at Keraterm and several witnesses called by
the prosecution testified in his favour during the trial.
In May 2002, he was transferred to the Graz-Karlau jail in Austria.
According to Austrian legislation on February 25, 2003, he
fulfilled the requirements for probationary release. According to
an agreement between the UN and Austria, his release required
approval by the ICTY.
Dosen is the fifth ICTY convict to have served his term. The other
detainees include Drazen Erdemovic, Zlatko Aleksovski, Dragan
Kolundzija and Milojica Kos. Nine ICTY convicts are currently
serving time.
