She said it was regretful that the reason for her arrival in
Belgrade was many open issues which burden their relations and that
she was again facing obstructions or a lack of true will for her to
gain access to archives and documents.
She added that there was no evident progress in Belgrade
authorities' attempts to locate and arrest fugitives.
Most of them are either living or freely moving around Serbia, she
said at the end of her visit to Belgrade where she held talks with
the foreign minister and president of the National Council for
cooperation with the international tribunal, Zoran Djindjic, and
Serbian vice-premier in charge of Kosovo, Nebojsa Covic.
Del Ponte assessed the decision of Serb radical leader to travel to
The Hague to answer for war crimes charges was absolutely good.
She also expressed her dissatisfaction with the law on cooperation
with the tribunal which allows only the arrest of those who were
indicted before the law came into force.
Del Ponte will meet Montenegrin officials on Tuesday.
