Asked by journalists whether the ruling coalition was threatened
because of the decision, Tomcic recalled the decisions the five
parties made on changes to the method of privatisation, which he
believed would be realised in the agreed time frame.
"The 'Suncani Hvar' case needs to viewed as only one detail leading
towards a complete change of the entire concept of privatisation,
and I personally will be happy if 'Suncani Hvar' is returned to the
new concept," Tomcic concluded.
A commissioner of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of
Croatia in "Suncani Hvar", Mladen Tabak, believes that the
government's decision to sell the company to Slovenia's "Terme
Catez" was the only correct decision to make.
No-one made a better offer than the Slovenes, Tabak said, and added
that it was "normal to respect a tender if we are to be considered a
serious state and is we respect the market economy which we vouch
by".
