ZAGREB, Jan 21 (Hina) - After a winter break, the Croatian
parliament will begin its regular annual sitting and the 29th
session on Wednesday. #L#
The session, to be held between January 22 and February 7, will
start with the usual question time during which MPs will pose
questions to government members on the most current political and
other issues.
During the three-week session, MPs will discuss 55 items, including
a privatisation audit.
The audit, which has so far been conducted in 242 companies, gave
very unfavourable results - capital value of the analysed companies
is reduced, so is the number of the employed, while the number of
bankruptcies increased.
Parliament should adopt amendments to the law of traffic safety
which stipulates a drastic increase of fines for severe traffic
violations.
Parliament should also pass laws on foreigners, inheritance and
civil service.
In the first reading, MPs will discuss a bill on family, under which
regulations of common law marriage would apply to the common law
marriage of persons of same sex when it comes to support and
property relations, and a bill on consumer protection.
Also in the first reading is a bill on protection from domestic
violence.
The regular spring-summer session starts no earlier than January 15
and ends on July 15.
