ZAGREB, Jan 10 (Hina) - Government representatives, employers and
representatives of the Union of Mine Removal Experts met at the
Interior Ministry on Friday to discuss union objections regarding
the new law on humanitarian de-mining. #L#
Union leader Drazen Kis said the union was presented with a new bill
about which it should voice its stand by January 20. The next
meeting was scheduled for January 27.
Kis said the bill should be forwarded into parliamentary procedure
as soon as all interested parties reached agreement on the
document.
The union demands that the new law precisely define a five-hour work
day because the regulation on that issue had not been included in
the draft. Another demand is giving mine removal experts back the
rights of disabled war veterans in case they suffer an injury while
at work. They were stripped of those rights with the new law on the
rights of Croatian soldiers, which took effect in November last
year.
