If the government persists with its proposal to use 200 million kuna
(EUR27 million) of additional funding for the school sector for
teachers' pays alone, the Teachers' Union will organise a strike in
primary schools on January 13-17, while the Independent Union of
High School Employees with organise a solidarity strike for
administration and technical staff.
The public services which signed the supplement include the
science, health and welfare unions, while the culture union has
announced it will sign it.
Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic expressed regret that primary
and secondary school employees did not sign the document.
The president of the police union, Dubravko Jagic, signed the
supplement on behalf of the state services. He said the document
upgraded the status of Interior Ministry employees. Other state
services should sign early next year.
