The reaction of Albanian leaders from the municipalities of
Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja ensued after the Serbian defence
ministry started sending calls to Albanian boys to be drafted into
the army.
In early 1990s after the disintegration of the then Yugoslav
federation and the start of the war in Slovenia, Albanians in the
Presevo valley as well as those in Kosovo boycotted summons for the
conscription in the then JNA army.
