The arrangement would be debated in parliament before and if it is
signed, Kos said.
She could not confirm information given to reporters by a
participant in the meeting that the coalition leaders today
discussed and were divided in views about sending Croatian military
policemen on a peace mission to Afghanistan.
The parliament last week discussed a draft decision on sending 44
members of special police forces on a peace mission to Afghanistan,
but it did not vote on it. As its regular sitting ends on December
15, the parliament should vote on the decision by the end of this
week. Different opinions could be heard in the discussion - from
those that by sending its policemen Croatia proves its commitment
to the anti-terrorist coalition and NATO, to those that the
decision was not a good one because Afghanistan is a war zone, that
Croatian soldiers are exposing themselves to the threat of being
killed, and that Croatia does not have regulations on their
protection.
