"The main priority of Slovene policy this year is the establishment
of democratic balance. If this does not happen, monopoly and
corruption will affect the Slovene society to the extent that the
country's integration into European processes will be delayed for a
long time," said the head of the Opposition's Social Democrats,
Janez Jansa.
The leader of the National Party, Zmago Jelincic, gave an unusual
statement about this year's priorities.
"Along with the removal of the consequences of the poor deal with
the European Union, the main task is a conference on succession to
the Adriatic Sea which I intend to organise in Belgrade in several
months. The Slovene government must take a more determined stand
towards Croatians and stop being servile. We have to convince
Europe that the European Union would enlarge if Istria is included
into Slovenia," Jelincic said.
