ZAGREB, Dec 18 (Hina) - On the occasion of the European Council'sdecision that negotiation on Croatia's EU membership would be launchedon 17 March 2005, Croatian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks onSaturday congratulated Prime Minister
Ivo Sanader and all Croatiancitizens and gave his assessment of the decision, the parliament'spublic relations office said in a statement.
ZAGREB, Dec 18 (Hina) - On the occasion of the European Council's
decision that negotiation on Croatia's EU membership would be launched on 17
March 2005, Croatian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks on Saturday congratulated
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and all Croatian citizens and gave his assessment
of the decision, the parliament's public relations office said in a
statement."Yesterday's decision of the European Council to set 17 March 2005 as
the date for the start of Croatia's negotiations on EU membership is a
significant recognition to Croatia and its citizens for the overall progress in
achieving democratic and civilisation standards," Seks said.
He stressed the government would have the full support of parliament and
parliamentary deputies.
"I am confident that yesterday's decision of the European Council
represents one of the most significant successes of Croatia's politics," Seks
said.
