ZAGREB, Dec 15 (Hina) - Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks on Wednesday received incoming ambassadors Francois Saint-Paul of France, Anne George of Australia and Fatma Dicle Kopuz of Turkey, as well as outgoing Indian Ambassador Kailash Lal Agrawal, Parliament said in a press release.

Seks thanked the French ambassador for France's support to Croatia ahead of Friday's European Council summit, at which Croatia expects to be given a date for EU membership talks.

Seks said Croatia was doing absolutely everything to solve its only outstanding issue with the UN war crimes tribunal in the Hague, that of fugitive General Ante Gotovina. The French ambassador encouraged Croatia to continue doing everything that would contribute to its swifter admission to the EU.

The Australian ambassador and Seks agreed that Croatia's intensified activities in connection with its admission to the EU must not hamper the deepening of Croatian-Australian relations, notably on the economic front. They said the Croatian community in Australia played a significant role in bilateral economic relations.

The Turkish ambassador said she wanted bilateral relations to intensify, primarily in the economy and culture. She said Croatia could count on continued Turkish support for its admission to NATO, and voiced hope the outcome of Friday's summit would be good for both Croatia and Turkey as it would open the door to one more area of cooperation.

Seks thanked the Indian ambassador for everything he had done to advance bilateral relations, as evidenced by the increasingly frequent exchange of visits by the two countries' officials in recent years, which he said would continue in 2005.
