The committee, comprised of 15 representatives of the Croatian Sabor and the European Parliaments each and their deputies, was set up in October, several months after Croatian became an EU candidate.
The Croatian delegation was led by the chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Gordan Jandrokovic, who was accompanied by the chairman of European Integration Committee, Neven Mimica, and MP Mario Zubovic. The European Parliament was represented by the president of the European Parliament delegation in the joint committee, Pal Schmitt, vice presidents Cecilia Malmstrom and Borut Pahor, and European Parliament rapporteur for Croatia Hannes Swoboda.
The Croatian and European officials talked about the first meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee which will be held in Zagreb on March 16 and 18, 2005.
The European parliamentarians expressed full support to Croatia on its path to the EU and added they hoped Croatia would start EU entry talks in March 2005.
