MOSTAR, Nov 20 (Hina) - Croatia's Prime Minister and leader of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union party (HDZ) Ivo Sanader attended a round-table debate on the future of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) in the southern Bosnian city of Mostar on Saturday.

Sanader said three Bosnian political parties, the HDZ BiH, the Muslim-led Party of Democratic Action, and the Serb-led Party of Democratic Renaissance, should be admitted jointly, and not separately, to the European People's Party (EPP) as observers at the EPP conference in December. He added this was the first step to becoming full members.

After the round-table, Sanader said his proposal was adopted as a conclusion of the debate.

He went on to say that he informed the round-table of what his party had done over the past five years, including winning elections at the end of 2003 and joining the EPP as an associate member. He added that to become a full member, the country the party came from must be a member of the European Union.

Sanader said he attended the Mostar debate at the invitation of EPP leader Wilffried Martens and the Sarajevo branch of the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

Martens said the EPP would adopt the same decision for the three Bosnian parties. He added that after today's round-table debate, he could see that the HDZ BiH had met the terms to join the EPP as an observer because its leaders pledged to honour European values.

HDZ BiH leader Barisa Colak said the admission of the three Bosnian parties to the EPP would contribute to the Europeisation of Bosnia.
